Wood burning stoves are not only economic to run, they are also very environmentally friendly. As wood is a renewable resource it helps to conserve the rapidly depleting supplies of fossil fuels. It is also carbon neutral as burning wood only releases as much carbon as the tree has taken in while it has been growing - the same amount as would have been released if the tree had died and been left to rot.
It is important that the wood used in a stove is well seasoned & dry to ensure maximum efficiency when burning. If the wood contains too much moisture it wont burn as well and can foul up your flue increasing the risk of chimney fire, Also requiring more logs to get the desired effect.
